15 October - The ponds really have been neglected this last month or so, and with the work at the bottom of the garden still unfinished this situation is likely to continue for a few weeks yet.

I do occasionally stop there and look at any frogs that are out in the open, like this one that was perched on the Liverwort plants at the base of the log in the big pond.

You hear the croaking most days and they do venture from the pond. However, the current dry weather has encouraged them to stay close to the water.

In the early part of last week I emptied one of our water butts into the big pond - the butt is still dry tonight.
