This year I am dedicating mybitoftheplanet to the memory of our beautiful daughter-in-Law Georgina.

Sadly, Georgina lost her two year battle with cancer just before Christmas and now rests in the heart of woodland on the English South Downs.

Her memory lives on in all our hearts, and she will be missed terribly.

As far as the the diaries are concerned I really hope to maintain them more reliably in 2013, although increased family commitments will mean that less time will be spent at the computer and more with my grandchildren than in the early days of the diary. 

After neglecting the garden badly in 2012 I have a great deal to do over the next few months  in order to get it looking cared for once more. The nest diary will follow two families of at least two pairs of Swifts, as well as any other birds that nest here.

A highlight of February was my successful photographing on the 15th of short portions of the track of Asteroid 2012 DA14 as it made its Earth flyby.
