mybitoftheplanet The 2010 diaries
|
The eleventh year of my diary of the wilder side of my garden, from birds to frogs, newts and fungi. We now seem to have a resident fox that sunbathes on our caravan shelter from time to time. Go to final entry - 31 December - A dull end to a mixed year
Our trips to Cornwall :
in June
in September
Coverage of the events in our nest boxes through the year. Using cctv cameras, I monitored a Blue/Great Tit box, four Swift boxes, and three House Martin nests. The Martins failed to return, and the Great Tit brood failed, but after two pairs of Swifts moved in for the first time in 2009, they returned in May and each pair produced two eggs. The first pair of chicks fledged 19/20 July, with the pair from SW(LE) leaving 25/26 July. Go to latest entry - 1 August - Sparrow & Blue Tit roost in Martin nest |
