The 2003 Blue Tit / Bumble Bee Box Diary There were daily visits by the Blue Tits from Christmas onwards, and March started with a few deliveries of straw. The end of March saw the start of serious nest building which continued until mid-April when, unfortunately, the nest was abandoned by the Blue Tits and taken over by a Bumble Bee. I had hopes that we could follow the development of the bee's nest, but it too abandoned the box on 2 May, perhaps as a result of a spider web across the entrance.
